9.Inner West Bicycle Coalition – Report emailed from Neil as follows:
1. We received a response from Inner West Council about user pay charges and were advised that we would have to pay the fees (apparently these are already discounted for not for profit groups). I circulated the response to JC via IWBC. The only way we would get an exemption is if we got a motion passed by Council to that effect. Given that Council is doing quite a few things for cycling I believe we may be better off if we do not take this any further.
2. IWBC attended the 2nd IWC Bicycle Working Group meeting on 25 October. Council appear to be taking this process seriously, there were presentations about the Greenway and what works are being contemplated by Predrag Gudelj at present. It was reported that IWC did not receive RMS funding for all its current projects but the Greenway works continue, including an upgrade of the Bay Run path between UTS Rowing Club and Hawthorne Canal. This will be from money found from Ashfield Council previous budgets. Cllr Drury (Labor) and Cllr Kiat (Greens) in attendance. Cllr Drury received from Ashfield Bike Group a request to further investigate a north/south route they have been proposing. Bike Leichhardt requested IWC provide similar bike facilities to what City of Sydney is proposing at Wigrqm Rd/Booth St crossing of Johnstons Creek on the IWC (west) side. JC of Bike Marrickville sought that the quality of RR5 in Marrickville be reviewed.
3. I attended council meetings on 30 Oct and 12 Nov. IWC adopted Item 16 on 30 Oct seeking a joint letter be written by IWC and City of Sydney to ask the NSW Transport and Road ministers to incorporate City West Cycle Link into the WestConnex project at Rozelle rail yards. Motion passed unanimously. IWC to re-start the Lilyfield Rd upgrade process. We were invited to comment on the brief and largely our recommendations were accepted. I spoke to Item 4 on 12 Nov on this subject. Boat trailer parking to be banned on Lilyfield Rd between Denison and Justin Sts, with a proviso that although motor vehicle parking will be allowed, this area will also be considered for a bikeway, when the Lilyfield Rd consultancy is concluded.
4. David Borella and I took part in a photo shoot for the Inner West Courier, on an article about City West Cycle Link, as a result of the 30 Oct IWC motion. So far the article has not materialised.
5. IWBC working on making representations to Parker, Sidoti and Haylen to get CWCL included in the works of WestConnex at Rozelle.
10.Marrickville Festival – Sharing with DHBC worked well and we should repeat next year
11.Super Sunday bike count – No one did count this year.
12.General Business. Decided to meet in December given absence of John, Fiona and Neil for this meeting
Ian noted dockless electric bikes are now being distributed in the area
Next meeting Tuesday 18 December 7pm
